Kathy Abrahamson, MS, WHNP-BC, RN
 Kathy Abrahamson, MS, WHNP-BC, RN, was born in Fayetteville, AR, and was raised in Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. Her parents settled in Dallas and this is where she completed her high school education.
After high school, Kathy majored in music (piano performance) at North Texas State University and graduated magna cum laude in 1983. Kathy taught piano and performed in the north Texas area. She also married her high school sweetheart and raised three children in Arlington, TX.
Kathy’s strengths are service and teaching and considers it a privilege to do so for her patients. She is honored to be a member of the excellent team at Advanced Ob-Gyn Associates in Garland, Wylie and Dallas, TX.

HEALTHCARE EDUCATION
After a personal experience with several childbirths and the loss of a child, Kathy decided to attend nursing school with the goal of caring for women. She graduated in 1996 from TCJC and obtained her RN license. She worked primarily in labor and delivery for nine years as a women’s health RN. Kathy was also the clinical educator for the women’s and children’s division at Arlington Memorial Hospital before attending Texas Women’s University College of Nursing in Dallas to work on her advanced degrees.
In 2006 Kathy was selected as a Great 100 Nurse in the DFW area by the Texas Nurses Association. That same year Kathy graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree and in 2009 she graduated with a Master of Science and was among the top of her class. She then became a board certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and has worked in clinic and private practice settings. Kathy also has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels as assistant professor of nursing at TWU College of Nursing in Dallas.
As a nurse practitioner, Kathy provides primary care to women from adolescence to end of life. She has received training on several advanced skills, as well as having years of experience in pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum care. She is also a breastfeeding educator and has recently taken courses on heavy menstrual bleeding and hormone replacement.
PERSONAL
Kathy Abrahamson enjoys spending time with her husband (they have been married for 28 years), her adult children and grandson, as well as playing piano and singing in her church choir. She and her husband also enjoy backpacking and traveling, good restaurants, and are voracious readers. She likes to hula hoop and takes Body Works classes for fitness! Last year Kathy had the privilege of traveling to India on a medical healthcare mission to serve women in remote villages around Hyderabad.
